hi vignesh ,this is karthik, from 1 st sem dr.ait here!!!!!i had installed ubuntu 10 in my system,when commands like reboot are used in CLI ,it prompts for my password everytime,and the word “sudo ” has to be added to every such command for its successful execution!!for example to reboot i must enter “sudo reboot” ,and then it prompts for the password(eventhough i am a superuser)!!!!whats the way out of it!!!

Hey Karthik,
Ubuntu uses Superuser but the superuser is not equivalent to the root user.I suggest you enable root user so you don’t have to write su before every command.

No offense, but that’s wrong information and bad advice.
Superuser does in fact mean root, although I don’t know how that came into the picture.
And using the root account is a very bad idea. sudo exists for a reason.
