The concept presented in Inception is a very powerful one. A person changes his environment so many times that he forgets what his original environment was.
Now what if instead of his environment a person changes his character. An example would be a spy. A spy has to live with so many identities. How does he live his
off-duty life. Can he forget his fake identities and live his original identity. But again spy knows what his original identity is. He is very motivated towards
his original identity and hence very well knows the purpose and timeline of his fake identities.
What if a person is not so motivated towards his original identity. What if the change of identity is not a sudden change but a gradual change owing to circumstances.
Let me put my example. I had to frequently change my schooling environment owing to my dad’s transfers. As a person, I am very social and hence I need people
around me. This meant that I had to regularly adapt myself to the environment of the school to make new friends. With this, I did have many good friends in each school I studied.
But now, the question is did I change myself so much that I dont know what my original identity was. Also should I call my present character as fake as it
probably is no where near to my original identity.
If I look at it optimistically, I can say that my identity has not changed but only evolved and it is a necessary and compulsory step in every human’s life.
Similar to a diamond, which in a mine is black but when it changes its environment from a mine to a wedding ring, it has evolved so much that it changes from being
black to a nice, sparkling stone.
But I feel that is a bad example. Daimond always had that sparkling nature and it just required someone to cut it and shape it to show that sparkling nature.

So fake that have I lost my originality?

Localization sprint as rajyotsava celebration
Around 15 people met at FSMK office at 3:00 pm on Nov 1st to celebrate Rajyotsava. The plan was to have a localization sprint to localize Debian Installer. Since many were new to localization, we started by giving a brief about what localization is and the different tools used for localization. Then we divided ourselves into 5 groups and started the sprint. In around 2 hours, we were able to localize 46 strings. Most of the localization was done by Naveen, Shishir, Raghavendra, Prabodh and Jayakumar as each one was leading their group. Hopefully new comers understood the whole process of localization and will contribute to it in future. There are still 324 strings in debain-installer kn.po file and hence a very long way to go. However with few more such localization sprints, we should be able to complete the localization of remaining strings.
Along with the localization of strings, Rameez created a glossary of commonly used Computer Jargon. This will help any new comer to quickly find respective Kannada word for the English word. Also this will be followed as a standard while localizing. You can find the glossary here . Please feel free to add more words and correct if anything wrong.
In all, I feel very happy that in such short notice, we were still able to gather good number of participants and were actually able to localize a significant number of strings.
